Utilizing Public Parks for Exercise

The EFNEP educators from the NorthCentral region enjoyed a walk through the beautiful Historic Oak View park in Wake County. Our staff put into practice what they teach after having a refresher on the importance of cardiovascular exercises during their monthly meeting.

The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. Walking at a pace of 2.5 miles per hour is a good example of aerobic exercise that will result in cardiovascular benefits. As the weather becomes more comfortable, take advantage of public parks to go for a walk.
