EFNEP and others from Cooperative Extension joined hunger fighters from across the state at the NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference this week. This annual conference is hosted by the Carolina Hunger Initiative to bring together all those passionate about nutrition, education, and making sure that no child goes hungry.
According to Feeding America, 1 in 6 children in North Carolina face hunger each day. This conference is a time to bring together all those passionate about combatting childhood hunger in our state. EFNEP has been working in North Carolina for over 50 years to educate and provide the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy food choices and practice food resource management to ensure that no one goes hungry.
At this year's conference, Megan Halbohm and Paula Norris shared about EFNEP's new youth curriculum - Fuel for Life. This curriculum aims to provide teens with the skills they need to cook healthy meals for their families. These skills will carry on into adulthood and enable them to make healthy meals and provide for their futures.
