How do you make a lesson about vegetables exciting? For Lynnell Godfrey, youth EFNEP educator in Pasquotank County, the answer lies in her radiant personality, unwavering confidence, and a lot of fun activities. Lynnell recently taught the "Come Down the Tracks to the Veggie Terminal" EFNEP lesson to a group of 2nd graders at J.C. Sawyer Elementary School. Her bright smile and cheerful "Good morning!" immediately grabbed the attention of the students at the beginning of the lesson.

From there, Lynnell transformed the classroom into an interactive experience that weaved information along with storytelling. She even shared about her favorite vegetable - collard greens! The highlight of the lesson was definitely the physical activity video which encouraged the students to engage in dynamic motions which mimicked cooking actions such as chop, sizzle, and stir. The students enthusiastically followed the directions to "make" vegetable soup. Lynnell's dedication to finding creative ways to engage students shows how a dynamic educator can truly make a difference, one delicious, imaginary chop and stir at a time!
