Lorelei Aldridge Jones served as the EFNEP Program Coordinator from 2004 to 2021. She started her career with EFNEP in 1997 as what was then called a Nutrition Program Supervisor Agent, responsible for managing EFNEP in the Southeast district. Lorelei advanced in the EFNEP ranks in 2004, becoming the program’s coordinator for NC State University. Until her retirement, Lorelei was recognized nationally as a leader among EFNEP state coordinators and statewide for her passion for and dedication to EFNEP. In 2021, to honor Lorelei Aldridge Jones, the EFNEP Staff donated to the EFNEP Enhancement General Fund Award to support her commitment to hands-on food preparation as part of EFNEP classes. Funds donated in her honor will help EFNEP Educators improve their culinary skills and enhance food preparation and food equipment accessories.

This year’s recipient of the EFNEP Enhancement General Fund Award is Lynnell Godfrey, Youth EFNEP Educator in Pasquotank County.

Left to right: Katryn Eske, Lynnell Godfrey, Lisa Benavente, Sarah Kirby

Lynnell aims to improve food preparation opportunities for her youth groups to encourage them to try new foods. Her current cooking equipment limits the range of recipes she can make. A high-quality blender, known for its durability, versatility, and ability to process a variety of ingredients, is a vital investment for Lynnell. It will not only enable her to teach a wider range of budget-friendly EFNEP recipes but also serve as an effective teaching tool, helping her inspire a lasting curiosity about healthy foods, one demonstration at a time.

Congratulations, Lynnell!
