Collapse ▲Keilah Howard was hired as the Adult and Youth EFNEP Educator in Bertie County on July 7th. She immediately began her training, which included orienting with office staff and shadowing each of the agents out in the field. Simultaneously, Keilah started the New Employee Skills Training (NEST) to learn about EFNEP policies, procedures and guidelines. With her initial training underway, Keilah was eager to focus on youth education. She was able to draw on her previous experience as a school teacher and deep community ties as a native of Bertie County.

Keilah’s first recruitment event was the Windsor Elementary School Open House on August 14th. Alongside Liz Baker, Family and Consumer Science Agent, she met with many incoming students and their caregivers, engaging them with questions about MyPlate. This proactive interaction set a positive and energetic tone for the new school year, which she is excited to kick off with youth EFNEP lessons. We are excited to have Keilah join our EFNEP team!
