Collapse ▲After 20 years of service, Patty Bowers, Youth EFNEP Educator in Chowan and Perquimans Counties, is embarking on her next journey: retirement! Patty has been an invaluable EFNEP educator, dedicating her career to empowering youth to make healthy eating and physical activity a part of their lives. Patty’s impact extends far beyond the classroom. She has become well-known in her community and has watched many kids grow up. Patty always had a special way of connecting with kids. She made healthy recipes at every class she taught and encouraged kids to try new fruits and veggies.

As she prepared to leave her position, Patty reflected on her career. She shared that she learned how to be more organized as a result of her EFNEP position. She also encouraged new EFNEP educators to take advantage of the many training opportunities available to them through EFNEP, N.C. Cooperative Extension and in local county offices. She noted that working with your “Extension family” will give you a lot of skills to add to your toolbox. As we celebrate Patty’s remarkable achievements and the lasting legacy she leaves behind, we wish her well in retirement!
