Collapse ▲Staff from Gaston, Forsyth, Pitt, and Macon counties joined us on campus last week for their New Educator Skills Training. Throughout the week our new employees learned how to lead an effective food demonstration, knife skills, and the keys to a successful food program.
We were fortunate to have two guest presenters at this training to provide different perspectives for our staff. Jean Brownfield, EFNEP Educator in Martin County, demonstrated a youth and adult lesson. Jean attended this training several years ago and has gained a variety of experience implementing these concepts in her community over the years. It was a pleasure to have her demonstrate how she has applied her knowledge in her programs.
.
Geri Bushel, Executive Assistant for the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences, also joined us for this training to provide tips and advice on how to lead an effective food demonstration. She provided hands-on training with knife skills to increase confidence and ensure safe practices in the kitchen.
After a long week, our new educators will return to their counties across the state to spread their knowledge in an effort to improve the health of their communities. They left feeling recharged and energized to implement these practices into their daily programming. We can’t wait to see the impact they will have in their communities!
