EFNEP Graduation Success in Johnston County!

(Updated: July 20, 2026, 6:58 a.m.)

Recently at a Johnston County Head Start site, a wonderful group of parents and caregivers officially crossed the finish line, celebrating their graduation from the Families Eating Smart and Moving More classes. EFNEP Educator, Patty, did an incredible job wrapping up the series by presenting each participant with their well-deserved certificate of completion.

Over the course of the program, Patty guided participants through the essentials of building a healthier lifestyle: shopping on a budget, reading nutrition facts labels, kitchen safety, and planning meals at home. Patty also arranged for a special guest to walk the participants through guided physical activities they can easily do at home, ensuring families walked away with tools for both nutrition and movement.

These families shared some amazing changes they are already making at home, inspired by the EFNEP classes. One participant specifically shared that they are now actively reading nutrition labels, especially looking at the hidden sugars in soft drinks and making healthier choices.

Changing habits isn't easy, but this group proved that with the right tools, and a fantastic motivator like Patty, healthier plates and happier homes are completely within reach.

A huge congratulations to our graduates! Keep moving, keep eating smart, and keep inspiring us all.
