(Updated: June 3, 2024, 7:29 a.m.)

If you have heard of EFNEP in North Carolina, you have likely heard the name Della Hicks. With over 26 years as an EFNEP Educator, Della has been a dedicated employee to the program longer than anyone else on our team. It is not just her years or service but rather her commitment and passion for this work that makes Della so deserving of the recent title promotion to Program Associate.

A title promotion is designed to reward those county Agents, County Directors, Program Assistants, and Technicians who demonstrate programmatic accomplishment and professional growth. In addition to specific requirements, a rigorous process is required to receive a title promotion.
"Della's title promotion is well deserved!  She has the remarkable ability to connect with participants, inspire behavior change and empower individuals and families to make healthier choices.  As a tenured educator, Della welcomes new staff to observe her teaching EFNEP classes and offers to share recruitment strategies and best practices.  Della’s hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to EFNEP during her 26 year career is definitely worthy of being recognized and rewarded." -Jackie Sugg, Regional Nutrition Extension Associate

"I've known Della since 2010, and I know she is deeply passionate about her work. She finds joy in teaching EFNEP participants how to make healthy food choices. I am incredibly grateful to have her as an invaluable member of the EFNEP team! Congratulations to Della on a well-deserved title promotion!" - Lisa Benavente EFNEP Coordinator
